Detroit MI North American International Auto Show Sees Thousands During First Two Public Days

Auto fans have been enjoying the NAIAS via videos, photos and blogs for four days, but Sat. 15 it was finally time for the Detroit MI NAIAS to open to the public, and so far over 185,000 visitors have walked the various showrooms.
Detroit MI auto fans have seen and read about the highlights here at MI Auto Times as well as all over the Internet. The good news is the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) officially opened to the public Sat. 15.
In general the NAIAS is one of the biggest auto shows in North America and also one of the most anticipated. The NAIAS began with two days of viewing for credentialed media during the Press Preview followed by the two-day Industry preview, a one night only black-tie event to raise funds for charities at the Charity Preview and then finally the Public Show, which will go on for another week.
The turnout for the first two days of the Public Show was reported by NAIAS as higher than last year in 2010 and shows promise of being one of the bigger NAIAS events. The first day saw 86,622 visitors walking the different showcases and debuts. This was an increase of 3.5 percent from last year in 2010. The second day was even bigger on Sunday with almost 100,000 people visiting as 99,111 guests enjoyed the displays. This number was an increase of 4 percent from the previous year.
"The success of our Press Preview contributed to the amazing turnout we received at yesterday's [Saturday’s] first public day," said NAIAS Chairman Barron Meade in a press release. "All the buzz created by the media has built curiosity and excitement in patrons who are primed to learn about these trend-setting new vehicles."
NAIAS officials believe the Detroit MI show may attract anywhere between 750,000 to 800,000 visitors this year. That would be a strong increase as the 2010 NAIAS had about 715,000, which was an increase of 65,000 from 2009. It seems the NAIAS is steadily increasing in popularity as the vehicles and companies evolve.
There are still plenty of world premier events, activities and experience for anyone who gets a chance to attend the Detroit MI NAIAS.
