Atlantic Toyota shoppers joined the many fans of Toyota waiting to hear about the official release of the electric Toyota RAV4, which was announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This is the second-generation of the RAV4 EV, this first being released in 1997. There have been many changes to the new version to ensure the RAV4 EV’s upgraded drivability is a part of the customer’s Toyota experience.
“From the beginning, the customer experience has been the focus,” said Jim Lentz, President and Chief Operating Officer of Toyota Motor Sales, at the L.A. Auto Show. “In other words, how do we deliver an unconventional product to mainstream customers that is compelling and affordable and that offers an acceptable level of daily convenience.”
During the initial evaluation program that will be conducted throughout 2011, Toyota will have a total of 35 vehicles which will be solely built for demonstration. Atlantic Toyota customer should know the goal is to have the fully engineered RAV4 EV arriving in 2012. A wide range of climates and conditions will be tested against the performance of the new Toyota RAV4 EV.
Atlantic Toyota patrons may be excited to know the RAV4 EV has received several stylish exterior changes to its newest model.  The changes include a new front bumper, grille, fog lamps and head lamps.  Also, the Toyota RAV4 EV comes with a custom “mutually exclusive” paint color to complete the renovation of the second-generation RAV4 EV. Also the interior changed with custom seat trim, multimedia dash displays, push-button shifter and dashboard meters.  Those who have seen the RAV4 at Atlantic Toyota and Huntington Toyota will be happy to know that no cargo space was lost in the shift to an electric powertrain vehicle as the RAV4 EV has 73-cubic-foot cargo area with the rear seats folded down.
