Michigan trucks Don’t Win the Overall Title but Elliston Takes 5-Axle Class

Michigan trucks in the final championship don’t clinch the grand championship title, but one driver does capture the best-in-class win.
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Michigan trucks competed in the “Super Bowl of Safety” otherwise known as the 73rd Annual American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships, but only one of seven went home with victory in his pocket.
Out of the seven Michigan trucks and drivers represented, driver Steve Elliston of Sparta, M.I., and winner of the 2010 Michigan Truck Driving Competition, was the only one to win first place.
Elliston won the 5-Axle Class beating out Ray Jackson of H-E-B Grocery (San Antonio, Texas), and Steve Limas of ABF Freight System (Belen, N.M.).
The overall winner and grand champion who finished ahead of all Michigan trucks and more than 400 other professional drivers from all across the country was Carl Krites based out of Wapakoneta, Ohio.
